MAC Studio Moisture Tint SPF15

After reading some great reviews of MAC Studio Moisture Tint SPF15, I decided to purchase it to see how I liked it. Here's what the MAC website has to say about it:
"A light, tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 and other skin-nourishing ingredients. An easy one-step finish specially suited for the season, this sheer tint provides just enough coverage to even out the skintone while creating a flawless protected, softly moisturized finish."

When I went to MAC to buy this, I figured I would just match myself and picked Medium. When I told the MA what I wanted, she told me I should buy Medium Dark, so I went home with that. I tried it out and it was too dark, and made me look slightly orange. I of course went back and exchanged for the Medium, which was a great match. I'm a NC25 for reference. Side note: what is up with me always getting matched darker than I am when at MAC? It's happened a few times. Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm really happy with this product. It applies very smoothly and gives the light coverage I'm looking for. It's very natural looking and it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything. I have dry skin and don't think this would give enough moisture on its own, so I do use my regular moisturizer before this, and let it sink in for a while. I then apply primer and follow with Studio Moisture Tint SPF15. The primer helps to minimize the appearance of my pores and my skin is a lot more even after applying everything. I set with powder, and I'm good to go! The SPF15 in it is a nice bonus.

Have you tried MAC Studio Moisture Tint SPF15? Do you have a favorite tinted moisturizer?

  3. I normally think they match me too light when at MAC but when I go home it actually looks perfect so I guess I have a good MUA :D (she's awsome to be honest) I haven't tried this product, I kind of wanted it, but now I have so many foundations in so many different formulas that I'm afraid they might go bad before I use them up, lol, so I guess I'll wait :)

  4. I'm using Laura Mercier's Oil-free TM and without giving you a full on review, I really like it so far. :)

Good idea about putting on primer first. I don't like to wear primer all the time because I'm starting to get weary of silicones... I don't know why because I've never had a bad reaction to them. I just keep hearing about everyone else staying away from 'cones. lol

  5. I have been thinking about giving this a try! I am glad you liked it. Whenever I go to MAC the match me too light...

Also, which primer do you use? I am using Smashbox right now, the one that everyone raves about, but I am not loving it at all. I used to use Make Up For Ever, and I really liked that...I am thinking about switching back...or trying a new one.

  6. I'm interested to try this too. I guess I will also get Medium; I'm like the opposite skintone of you (NW25). I also sometimes get match darker than I am at MAC. But ppl think I'm lighter than i actually am at Sephora :/ What gives?
I would says I'm light to light-medium most of the year. I have more luck matching myself, lol!

  7. It could be the lighting they have at your MAC store? So far they've been getting my colour right. This sounds like a good tinted moisturiser, but I have so many foundations at the moment that I have to use up! I can mix those with my normal moisturiser :) x

  8. Everytime I go to a MAC counter, they always send me home with something that is too dark for me.

  9. does it smell at all? I was thinking of getting it earlier, but opted for the face and body foundation instead and love that one a lot.
